3)Champions and Roles

Champions

Champions are the characters that you are able to buy on LoL and play with them versus other people.The price is different for each champion(the lowest price for a champion is 450 ip and it goes up to 6300 ip)There are 2 ways to buy champions from store:The first one is by playing and collecting influence points (IP) and the other one is by paying real money to buy Riot points (currency of the company).You can see which champion you own by going to your profile and press "Champions"
Every week there is a new rotation on champions that you can get for free.

Not all  champions have the same skills,or attributes.In this section we will speak about the differences between the champions and what roles they have in game.

First of all,i think it is good to separate the characters according to their range.A champion`s range is different and we can divide them into 2 groups:Long range and Short range(melee)

By the term Long range we can define a champion that hits from a distance.Champions dont have the same range even if they hit from a distance(it can be different to a number of 450 to 600+).

Short range champions(or else melee champions)are the ones that have to go close to their enemy in order to hit them(usually they have 150- range)

You can see your character's range and stats in game to the champion's status screen by clicking on your champion`s icon on the bottom left corner

In the status window you can see some main attributes: 

Health(hitpoints) and Mana(which is used for casting your skills)

Attack damage and Ability power(Stats for  describing the power of physical and magic type champions)

Regeneration on health and mana

Armor and Spell penetration(this is used as a way of reducing the enemy`s armor and magic resist) 

Lifesteal and Spell vamp(a percentage of life that you take back when you hit an enemy or cast spells on him)

Attack speed and Movement speed(how fast your character hits and runs(cap of attack speed is 2.5))

Armor and Magic resist(resistance on physical hits and magic skills

Cooldown Reduction(how fast your skills can be used(cap is 40%))

Some champions dont have Mana.Instead they use Energy which is also like mana(consumed when using skills)or they dont use any of the above.

Attributes and Roles

Every champion in LoL has a special role and attribute.The roles are usually divided according to the lane someone wants to go.The main roles are:AP carry,AD carry,Support,Jungler and Top laner that can be either AP or AD.

(Note:Carry stands for a character that can change the progress of the game if he has good items and kills a lot of enemies)

a)AP carry: AP stands for ability power.It is often a mage type class attribute which inflicts magic damage to kill the enemy.AP characters usually go to mid lane but there are some occasions on which the AP characters go on top lane

b)AD carry: AD stands for attack damage.AD carry champions go to bot lane so that they can farm(kill minions and make gold)and change the game on late basis.AD champions inflict physical damage to the enemies.

c)Support: Support is the character that helps the AD carry on farming,surviving and even kill enemy champions.

d)Jungler: A Jungler is a character(usually AD)that doesn`t go in a lane and instead he kills monsters in the jungle area(the jungle area is the area that you can find the neutral monsters).Along with the farm,a jungler must gank(do a suprise attack)the enemies in each lane and he has to make sure that his teamates can take the upper hand in their lanes.

e)Top AD or AP: Top is the term that defines the upper lane,which is normally a solo lane.The character that goes there is usually AD but in some occasions we have some AP champions too.

Apart from those roles there are attributes that every champion has.Those attributes(like assasin,tank,pusher etc)defines the characteristics on each champion.
Some characters can be played with 2 or even 3 different ways.For example Teemo can be played both as AD and AP character.Characters can have a Hybrid way of build(like half AD half AP based).
